Upright Piano Moving
Spinet, console, studio, or full-size upright. It goes out the door standing on a skid board, wrapped in blankets and strapped, so the case and keys stay protected and nothing needs to come apart.
Move Pianos moves pianos in Ajax, and since 2017 pianos and other big instruments have been our only work. We pick up uprights and grands from private sellers’ homes, move family pianos from one house to the next (Riverside to Westney Heights, say), and take pianos from Ontario to other provinces. Organs, harps, and drums travel with us too, and music schools and piano shops book us as well as families.

Quick answer
Piano moving in Ajax starts from $360 for a spinet, apartment-size or regular upright. A heavy upright or baby grand starts from $450, and a semi-concert or 8-foot grand costs $550–$700. These prices are for a main-floor move with up to three stairs, and they include wrapping, taking a grand apart and insurance. Stairs beyond two flights, an elevator-only building or a long carry from the truck add to the price, and the amount is listed in your quote before the move.

A grand leaves the house in pieces: the lid, music rack, legs and pedal lyre are each wrapped separately, and the body goes out strapped to a piano board on dollies. Parlour, baby, and concert grands are reassembled in your room by the people who dismantled them.
Keyboards, organs, harps, drums and electronic pianos. The electronic piano is much lighter than the upright piano; however, the stand and electrical components still require padding.
From Ajax to Ottawa, or across the country to Vancouver, the piano keeps its blankets and straps for the whole trip in a climate-controlled truck. You get the delivery window before loading, and around 14 days is enough to book. Destinations are in Canada only.
Not ready to take the piano home yet? Our climate-controlled storage holds it for a week or several months, with 24/7 monitoring.
Picking up from a private seller means starting in a home that isn’t yours. Sort out these five things before you book, and send photos of both addresses, including stairs and turns.
At the seller’s home
Find out which floor it is located on, how many stairs are on the way out and if there is a bend on the stairs. Pictures of the exit path from the seller side will help us to estimate the cost of both parts of the service.
The seller or someone they trust has to be home to open the doors and confirm the piano is now yours.
Check if all detachable components come together with the instrument: legs, pedal lyre, lid and music rack. Our team disassembles, wraps and relocates everything with the piano’s body.
Organize payment terms with the seller beforehand. We transport pianos and don’t evaluate, inspect or fix them. If you need the instrument to be evaluated by a professional before the purchase, find a piano technician for this purpose.
At your home
Measure the space and the doorway the instrument will go through. Send both addresses, photos, the piano type and the access conditions, and you get a fixed price for the whole move.
Call or send the form with the piano type, both addresses, and photos. The estimate costs nothing, and the price you get is the price you pay if the access is as described.
Choose a date 3–5 business days out or later. If the piano is leaving a condo, reserve the building’s service elevator first.
Blankets, stretch wrap, and a piano board go on before the piano moves an inch. Floors and door frames are covered at both addresses, and the piano is strapped down for the drive.
It goes where you’ve decided it should stand, and a grand gets put back together on the spot. Once it has settled into the room, call a piano tuner.

No. We move pianos and other large instruments only, so the trucks, the equipment, and the people are set up for that one job.
That counts as a local GTA move and uses the same prices as a move inside Ajax. Our Toronto piano moving page covers the city side.
Music schools are on our client list, next to families and piano stores. Tell us the hours when the building is open and where the truck can stop.
Yes, anywhere in Canada. Long-distance pianos travel in a climate-controlled truck; the delivery window is set before pickup, and booking about 14 days ahead gives us room to plan the route.
