Piano Movers in Whitby, Priced per Move and Not by the Hour

Quick answer

How much notice do you need for a piano move in Whitby?

Book a local Whitby move 3–5 business days ahead. A long-distance move needs about 14 days, because the delivery window is agreed upon in advance. Weekends fill first. A same-day move is sometimes possible when a crew happens to be free, but don’t plan around it. Call (647) 509-5286 with the piano type and both addresses.

Piano Moving in Whitby: What We Carry

Upright Piano Moving

The spinet, console, studio, and professional upright pianos are transported on their feet using a skid board. The piano is protected with blankets and straps both inside the room and outside.

Grand Piano Moving

For baby, medium, and concert grands, the legs, the pedal lyre, and the lid are removed along with the music rack, each wrapped on its own. The crew that loads the piano also reassembles it at the other end.

Specialty Instrument Moving

Organs, harps, and drum sets, plus digital and hybrid pianos. Size and shape vary a lot here, so describe the instrument when you call.

Long-Distance Piano Moving

Leaving Whitby for another province? The piano travels in a climate-controlled truck, and you agree to the delivery window with us before pickup. We move within Canada only.

Piano Storage

Climate-controlled storage for a day, a week or longer, with temperature and humidity held steady. Useful when the new house isn’t ready on the day you leave the old one.

Hourly Rate or Fixed Quote: How a Whitby Piano Move Is Priced

Some local moves are billed by the hour, for both the crew and the truck. We charge one flat price that doesn’t change once the crew arrives on moving day.

Our price depends on the kind of piano, its weight, the distance, stairs, the availability of an elevator, and how far we carry the piano from the truck. It includes wrapping, disassembly and reassembly of a grand, floor protection, and insurance.

More than two sets of stairs, a building that can only be accessed via elevator, or a long distance between the truck and your door increases the cost, and the figure is included in the quote. If access on moving day matches what you described, the price stays the same.

Who We Are: Piano Movers Serving Whitby

Move Pianos moves only pianos and other big musical instruments, not furniture or boxes. Our founder, Andre Struts, started the company after watching ordinary movers ruin pianos they didn’t know how to handle, and that is still the whole point of it.

Our clients are families, music schools, and piano stores.

We have moved Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway & Sons, Heintzman, and Mason & Risch pianos, among others, and every move is booked through our online form or by phone.

Whitby Piano Moving FAQ

Can you take a grand up to a second-floor room?

Yes. With the legs, lyre and lid off, the body goes up the stairs on a piano board. Send us a photo of the stairs and the landing at the top. A third flight adds extra cost, which is reflected in the quote.

Do I get a written contract for a piano move in Whitby?

In Ontario, a moving contract over $50 has to be in writing, and a mover can’t charge more than 10% above the estimate in that contract unless you agree to extra services. Ontario’s guide to hiring a mover explains the rules. Our quote is a fixed price, so the number in writing is the number you pay when access matches, unless extra services are agreed in writing.

We live in Brooklin with a long driveway. Is that a problem?

Not a problem, just a longer carry. Tell us roughly how far the truck can park from your front door, and the long carry goes into the quote instead of being added on moving day.

Can you move a piano from Whitby to Newmarket or Richmond Hill?

Both are local GTA moves priced from the same table. Our Newmarket piano movers and Richmond Hill piano movers pages cover that side of York Region.

Who tunes the piano after the move?

We don’t tune pianos ourselves, but we can suggest a tuner, or book one for you. Wait until the piano has settled into the new room’s temperature and humidity. If you no longer need the piano at all, ask us about disposal; it has its own quote.
