Upright Piano Moving
From spinets to full-size professional uprights. We set the piano on a skid board, wrap and strap it, and take it through doors and down stairs standing upright, without taking it apart.
Move Pianos moves upright and grand pianos, organs and digital pianos in Pickering, from Bay Ridges and Rosebank to the new streets of Seaton. Since 2017 we have moved nothing but pianos and large instruments, and every move is insured, whether it stays in Pickering, crosses the GTA or goes to another province.

Quick answer
Yes, insurance is part of all our quotes; liability insurance and full valuation coverage keep your piano protected from wrapping until it is placed in the new room. No damage claim has ever been made against us. If your condominium corporation or property management company requires proof of insurance, we will provide it upon request. Please notify us at the time of booking if you have a Steinway, a Bösendorfer, or an expensive older upright piano.

We started Move Pianos after seeing how many pianos general movers damaged without the right equipment. We still take on nothing but pianos and other large instruments: no furniture, no boxes, no house contents.
From spinets to full-size professional uprights. We set the piano on a skid board, wrap and strap it, and take it through doors and down stairs standing upright, without taking it apart.
Baby, medium and concert grands are the one type we always take apart. Off come the lid, legs and pedal lyre; each part is wrapped, and the body travels separately on a piano board. Our crew reassembles it in the room where it will stand.
Digital pianos on their stands, hybrid pianos, organs, harps, and drum kits. Tell us the model so we bring the right padding.
When a piano leaves Pickering for Halifax, Calgary or another part of the country, it is carried in a climate-controlled truck and wrapped exactly as for a local job. Delivery dates are settled before pickup, and booking about two weeks ahead is enough. We only move within Canada.
Between homes, your piano can wait in our climate-controlled facility for a few days or several months. Temperature and humidity stay steady, the space is clean and pest-free, and it is monitored 24/7. If it won’t be going to a new home at all, ask us about piano disposal; we quote it separately.
Possession dates on new builds often move, and a piano is the one thing that shouldn’t wait it out in the garage. Four things keep it on schedule.
Pick a date once possession is confirmed, and keep the piano off the furniture truck. Booked on its own, it arrives when the hallways and stairs are clear for our crew.
Missing stair railings, fresh hardwood or a threshold that isn’t in yet all change the route. Tell us what’s unfinished when you book. We protect the floors at both entrances and set the time around that route.
The piano goes to storage and comes to the new house when it is ready. See Piano Storage above.
A new condo building often has strict rules for its first residents. You book the service elevator with management; we work to the time and building rules they set.
Pickering moves start from $360 for smaller uprights such as spinets and apartment-size models. A heavy upright or a baby grand starts from $450, and the larger grands, semi-concert and 8 ft, run $550–$700. Those figures assume two movers and a main-floor delivery with no more than three stairs.
The final price depends on the piano, the stairs, elevator access and how far it has to be carried from the truck. The price is set before moving day and already includes wrapping, a grand’s disassembly and reassembly, and insurance.
Extra cost comes from three places only: stairs beyond two flights, a building you enter only by elevator, and a long gap between the truck and the front door. All three are listed with their amounts before you book.

Neighbourhoods
Pickering postal codes L1V, L1W, L1X, and L1Y are all in our area. Pickering Village, despite the name, belongs to Ajax. Coming from the west, our Scarborough piano movers page covers the Toronto side of the city line.
We can. Count the steps, photograph the turn at the bottom, and tell us if there is a landing. Stairs past the second flight add to the price, and that amount is in your quote before you book.
An upright move within Pickering usually takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours, a grand 2.5 to 4. Waiting for a condo elevator or a long carry adds time.
Yes, Claremont is part of Pickering, so it is inside our area. On rural and farm properties, expect a longer drive and possibly a longer carry from where the truck can park, which is priced into the quote.
For an upright, close and lock the keyboard cover. For a grand, clear everything off the lid. That’s all; we will handle the rest.
