Making a move with your piano to Etobicoke is not like making a move with your piano across a flat and spacious suburban driveway. When moving a piano to Etobicoke, you have narrow condo hallways off The Queensway, split-level homes in Humber Valley Village, and multiple towers going up all around the Mimico and Islington area, and they all provide their own unique challenge when moving a piano. Move Pianos is a professional piano moving company that has been serving Etobicoke and the Greater Toronto Area since 2019. We do not provide a full range of general moving service. We only provide piano moving services, and we do that extremely well! Call us at (647) 870-1646 or get a free quote online.

Our Piano Moving Services in Etobicoke

01

Upright Piano Moving

Upright pianos can be moved in the Etobicoke area for a minimum of $360. The price covers the following types of uprights: spinet, console, studio and professional. While they may look light, the average studio upright weighs over 250 kgs. Moving an upright piano requires the use of a piano skid board, heavy-duty dollies and non-abrasive straps. We take these pieces with us on every move.

02

Baby Grand and Grand Piano Moving

Baby and grand pianos can typically be moved for between $450 and $700 in Etobicoke. Each grand piano move requires disassembly of the piano including disassembly of its legs, lyre, Pedal Box and music rack. Each disassembled piece will be wrapped with a custom-fitted moving blanket before being loaded onto the truck. A baby grand piano move will require 3 or 4 movers. We can handle the complete range of grand pianos, including concert grands, parlour grands and medium grands.

03

Long-Distance Piano Moving

Long distance piano moving is one of the best-selling services we provide to our customers. In all cases we transport pianos in a climate controlled truck, using proper size skid boards, securing straps and full end-to-end insurance. We will take care of everything concerning the routing of the transported piano.

04

Piano Storage Services

We have a climate-controlled facility where you can store your piano for a short-term or long-term period. Your first month of storage is free. Our storage facility is monitored 24/7, and the climate is kept stable all year long to protect the wooden frame, strings, and finish of your piano from seasonal damage. Piano storage services are included in your moving plan if the delivery of your piano does not coincide with your moving timeframe.

05

Specialty Instrument Moving

We also offer piano moving for organs, harps, and other large instruments that require specialized equipment and handling.

How We Move Your Piano: The Process

Here’s what our moving process looks like from first call to final placement:

01

Free quote

Tell us your piano model, pick-up address, and drop-off address. We ask about stairs, elevators, and tight spaces, then give you a firm price — no surprises on moving day.

02

Preparation at pickup

To transport upright pianos, we secure the keyboard cover, use moving blankets or padding to wrap all around the piano, and then put it on a piano skid board. For baby grand or grand pianos, we remove the legs, lyre, and pedal assembly, wrapping each piece separately using custom tools and materials.

03

Loading and transit

We clear your route to ensure protection to your floors/walls; we carry your piano to the truck and secure it with non-abrasive straps, and we will have climate-controlled transportation for all long-distance shipping.

04

Delivery and placement

At the new site, after unloading the piano, we reassemble, place the piano where you want it, and do a final condition check on-site. We won’t leave until you’re satisfied.

Neighbourhoods We Serve in Etobicoke

Our piano movers in Etobicoke cover the full district and surrounding GTA. Here’s where we work most:

Mimico — A growing lakefront community with newer mid-rise and high-rise condo buildings. Elevator access varies significantly between towers. We’ve worked in most of these buildings and know what to expect.

The Kingsway and Humber Valley Village — Larger detached homes, often with grand pianos and formal music rooms. Curved staircases and narrow front halls are common. Moving a grand piano here requires careful planning and experienced movers.

Alderwood and Long Branch — Mostly postwar bungalows and some newer infill. Usually accessible, occasionally tight depending on additions and renovations.

Rexdale and Thistletown — Older townhouse complexes and walkup apartments where stairwells are narrow and landings are tight. We bring the right specialized equipment to handle it without damage to the instrument or the building.

Islington-City Centre West — One of Etobicoke’s busiest condo corridors. We do regular jobs in this area for both local piano moving and delivery from piano stores.

North York border areas and Humber Bay — We frequently serve clients in North York adjacent to Etobicoke and along the Humber Bay waterfront. Same team, same standard.

Etobicoke North, New Toronto, Markland Wood — Full coverage across the district, from Steeles in the north to the lake in the south.

Moving in Etobicoke from another Toronto neighbourhood? We cover Scarborough and other GTA areas too. See our Scarborough piano movers page, or call (647) 870-1646 to confirm availability at your address.

Why Etobicoke Piano Moving Is Different

One wrong move and you’re looking at a damaged soundboard or a gouged wall. Many people do not know this until they actually try moving their own pianos. Pianos can weigh from 150 to more than 400 kg, and a single hard bump can damage the delicate internal mechanisms. Physical strength alone won’t get it out of your home safely. Each piano must be transported using specialized tools, professional technicians, and a removal process designed specifically for that piano.

Etobicoke is one of the most demanding districts in Toronto for piano moving. Narrow streets, Rexdale walkups with stairwells never built for a 300 kg upright, Humber Bay elevators only 76 cm wide, curved staircases in The Kingsway — the list goes on.

According to the City of Toronto’s open data on residential permits, Etobicoke continues to see strong residential growth — new condos, new homes, and new moves. Which means more pianos in motion and more reason to hire experienced movers who know the territory.
