Professional Piano Movers in Vaughan

Awesome Image

Vaughan is not a small city anymore. The VMC district alone has changed the skyline, and Woodbridge keeps growing with detached homes, townhouses, narrow staircases, condo towers, and everything in between. Moving a piano through any of it takes more than muscle. We've done it hundreds of times across Maple, Concord, Kleinburg, and Thornhill — grand pianos, upright pianos, baby grands. Whatever the instrument, we have the equipment and the crew to get it there without a scratch. We are Move Pianos, a dedicated piano moving company serving Vaughan and the Greater Toronto Area. Not a general moving company that handles the occasional piano. Just pianos. Call us at (647) 870-1646 for a free quote.

Piano Moving Services in Vaughan

01

Upright Piano Moving

When it comes time to move an upright piano, things can get complicated rather quickly. Upright pianos are heavy and awkward, and if they are not handled with the proper equipment, they can easily become damaged. Our upright piano moving company uses professional piano skid boards, lifting straps, and heavy-duty dollies, all of which are designed specifically for this type of instrument. As always, we will take care of your piano and not leave until it is placed exactly where you want it.

02

Grand Piano Moving

When moving grand pianos, it requires complete disassembly before being transported. Grand pianos are just as heavy and awkward as upright pianos, but they are also susceptible to damage if not moved with the proper technique. The legs will be removed, the pedal lyre removed, and the lid will be secured to protect delicate internal components. Each piece will be individually wrapped in protective padding and blankets, and will then be transported with specialized equipment designed specifically for moving pianos and loaded onto a truck that is appropriately sized for the grand piano being transported. Each stage of the move will include reassembly and placement at the final destination. For example, your 700 lb Steinway will receive this level of care throughout the move.

03

Long-Distance Piano Moving

Are you relocating from Vaughan to Ottawa, Calgary, or across the border? We offer long-distance piano moving services across Canada and into the USA. Regardless of the distance, every piano will receive the same level of care and protection when it is packaged. For a free custom quote, please contact us at (647) 870-1646.

04

Piano Storage

Whether you need piano storage for a short period or for a long period of time, we offer safe and secure climate-controlled piano storage. The temperature and humidity in our storage space is held constant throughout the entire year because if a piano is stored in an environment that does not maintain a controlled climate, the piano will go out of tune in a very short time, and in the worst case scenario, it could crack the soundboard. Our storage facility is monitored 24/7. We will treat and care for your piano the same way we would if it were in our care.

About Move Pianos

Move Pianos is a moving company that specializes in providing piano moving and disposal services to customers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Move Pianos has been operating since 2019. Move Pianos provides an environmentally friendly moving service that is responsible and hassle-free. We only transport and dispose of pianos; we do not transport furniture, appliances, or any other types of boxes. We do this because a piano is not just a piece of furniture. It is a musical instrument that consists of many parts, is made from wood, and will change depending on the temperature and humidity in which it is placed. The distribution of weight across a piano will also vary depending on what type of piano it is. You must have a mover that knows and understands the facts above before they arrive to help you. Pianos have been moved by us over 600 times within the GTA. Customer referrals account for 96% of business. All our customers are covered under all stages of the move, including loading, delivery, and unloading. Move Pianos has not damaged a piano while in our possession. This is important to us, and we intend to maintain this record.

Piano Moving Prices in Vaughan

Following an evaluation of access points and route conditions, we provide an upfront quote, so as not to have any surprises on the day of your move or any hidden fees during your move. The price depends on the type of piano being moved, distance to be moved), number of movers required for the move and the complexity of accessing the piano (stairs, elevators, distance from where we are parking our vehicle). Some pianos may weigh more than 400kg which will require additional care to transport your piano as well as check your route.

Note on tuning

Note on tuning: Pianos should acclimate to their new environment for 2 to 3 weeks before being tuned. This applies regardless of how carefully the instrument was transported. It's just how pianos work. We recommend connecting with a local Vaughan tuner after that window. The Royal Conservatory of Music is a useful resource for finding certified tuners in Ontario.

How We Move Your Piano — Step by Step

01

Assessment.

We review the pickup and delivery points, staircase layout, elevator availability, and any tight spaces. Vaughan homes vary significantly — a newer VMC condo move looks nothing like a Kleinburg estate, so careful planning matters.

02

Preparation.

The piano is prepped for transport. For uprights, we secure the lid and keyboard cover. For Grands, legs, and the pedal assembly are carefully removed. Everything is labelled.

03

Transport.

The piano is loaded using dollies, skid boards, and lifting straps. It's secured inside the truck so it doesn't shift. We check the route before we move.

04

Delivery and reassembly.

At the new location, we reassemble the instrument, position it exactly where you want it, and make sure the floor is protected throughout. Done.

Neighbourhoods We Serve in Vaughan

We move pianos throughout Vaughan regularly. That local piano moving experience matters because each area has its own quirks — newer construction around Vaughan Metropolitan Centre means condo corridors and elevator bookings; older neighbourhoods like Woodbridge sometimes have narrower staircases and tighter driveways.

  • Woodbridge — detached homes, split-levels, tight staircases in older builds
  • Maple — growing residential area, mix of townhouses and newer single-family homes
  • Kleinburg — larger estate properties, sometimes long carry distances from truck to door
  • Concord — high-density residential near VMC, condo elevator coordination required
  • Thornhill (Vaughan portion) — established neighbourhoods, frequent upright piano moves
  • Vaughan Metropolitan Centre — newer towers, underground parking, scheduled elevators

We also serve nearby Richmond Hill, North York, and the broader GTA. Long-distance moves start in Vaughan and go wherever you need them to go.

FAQ

What are the costs of moving a piano in Vaughan?

The cost for moving an upright piano locally will start at $360. Moving a baby grand piano as well as a full grand piano will start higher due to needing more crew and needing to disassemble the piano. Stairs and needing to co-ordinate the use of an elevator will add to the cost, and the distance from truck to door also has an effect on the cost. We always give you an upfront quote so that there are no surprises on moving day. Pricing is based on Canadian dollars.

How many movers do you need for moving a grand piano?

Generally, between 3 to 4 people, depending on the size of the piano and how difficult it would be to get the piano into the residence. More movers will be needed if doing a large concert grand piano and the residence accessing is difficult. As part of the quoting process, we will determine how many movers will be needed and make sure we put the proper number of movers to do the move.

Are you moving my piano with insurance?

Yes. Every piano we move is insured for repair or replacement cost in the event your piano is damaged while loading, transporting, or unloading. Our records indicate that we have never had to use the insurance; therefore, there is coverage if the need were to arise.

Are you able to move pianos in vertical condo buildings?

Yes. If you’re moving into or out of a condo building, we will co-ordinate freight elevator bookings. Many of the buildings surrounding Vaughan Metropolitan Centre require advance notice to use the freight elevator; we will make that co-ordination for you.

Will you move a piano up or down a staircase?

Yes. Moving a piano up or down a staircase will add complexity and time which will be accounted for in your quote. To assist with moving a piano up or down a staircase, we will use skid boards and lifting straps. We have experience moving pianos in narrow staircases, as well as, three flights of stairs in a modern three level townhouse.

Is there a place within the Vaughan area that provides piano storage?

Yes. We provide climate-controlled storage within the G.T.A. The temperature and humidity will be stable and monitored 24 hours/day. Storage is available for short-term or long-term, depending on your needs.

When can I have my piano tuned after a move?

You should allow your piano to settle into its new environment for 2 to 3 weeks prior to tuning after moving in. Moving a piano will cause it to have some changes in string tension, regardless of how well the piano is handled; therefore, it takes time for things to settle so they can be tuned accurately. This is a common practice, and not a reflection of the quality of your piano’s moving service.

How can I get a quote for moving my piano in Vaughan?

Call us at (647) 870-1646, so we can provide an estimate for your piano move free of charge, on-site. We will ask you the type of piano, the pick-up and delivery address, floors of both locations, and if there are any access limitations. These are the four basic questions we will ask you so we can create your local piano move quote. No pressure, no obligation.

Do you move pianos a long distance from Vaughan?

Yes, we can do long distance piano moves within Ontario, within Canada and to the U.S.A. Each long-distance piano move quote will vary based on distance to be travelled, size of the piano and the packaging needed.
